I went to the Brisbane Medieval Fayre today. It was so cool. There was jousting, battles, dancing, archery, sword fighting... it was so much fun. I took photos so I'll post them when they're developed. Seriously, it was fantastic!
Yeah well... I dunno... seems like ever since you discovered that Medieval Porn Music... well you've just become obsessed!

I was obsessed long before the medieval porn music.
They Have a similar festival here in Michigan every year. It really is a kick to go. The atmosphere is excellent, even better if you volunteer for the festival you can dress up and be medieval for a day.
Now that I think about it I could do that anytime hmmmmm.
why do we celebrate a time in history that was so bleak? ???
Mauve... if your gonna get into dressing up... well... I guess that's your own private business

hehehe
Ms M
I can see clearly that haloween isn't celebrated down under. Pity it only comes once a year here.
It gives me the perfect excuse to dress up as kermit the frog.
I think we would all like to see that !! C'mon Frets! Share a pic!!!
Medieval porn music? ??? Please do share!! I am lost on that one!! [nothing new, huh?] LOL
:cherry:
P.S. Oh, BTW Frets ... if I go back thru my pics, I am sure I can find ones from the year my SO and I did 'Hans and Frans from SNL' or when we were the 'Sisters' [two old ladies] LOL ... and I remember the year I was a witch ... sorta nasty one at that!!

Coming up here at the end of the month is one. Takes place in a small town where the heart of it dates back some 400-600 years. And the whole town dresses up. (you have to pay entrance as well if you don't). There's been a fest going on there since 1500's, when the city was freed from a seige after they fed the last of their food to a dog, tossed it over the city walls to show they had enough reserves to feed even the dogs, and the invaders scarpered back home. (After cutting off the dog's tail and tossing it back! - ahh the medieval days

)
And of course we dress up. Even my little baby has a costume!

further reflection leads me to believe all Jules want's to see are my frog legs.
Neat story.
As Aus only has a documented "white" settlement history that is 200 y.o in an ancient land where the original inhabitants, the Aboriginals, way of recording history was the Dreamtime. Passed on by story telling.
Your little bit of Home town history is great and its fantastic that its still celebrated so strongly.

yeah it's pretty cool John. I've only been here four years; coming from Canada I know what you mean with the 'white settler' history. A lot of towns have similar festivals here, but the 'Peter und Paul Fest' is one of the bigger ones. Along with the local scene, there are groups from Egland and Italian and elsewhere. The italians 'flag fighters' are amazing to see.
*edit* Did a quick google and found
www.peter-und-paul.de Not a terribly exciting site but a couple of pics. Seems like the 500th anniversary is in two years... The fest takes place in two weeks if anyone wants to pop by.
